Legend Of Tasek Merimbun

Long ago, it is believed that Merimbun is where Dusun people live. Merimbun was found by a person named Imbun who is said to be the son of the head chief from Merangking in Ulu Belait.

The story starts with Imbun reaching the lake while hunting and he found lots of food like fishes and other animals from the nearby forest.

He told the village folks about the place that he has found, so he brought hus family and all the villagers to move there to start a new home. Since Imbun found the lake, the lake is named after his name as a tribute which is until today called Tasek Merimbun.

There is also another story of how the lake get its name, after the area was reside by Dusun people, traders would brung goods to the area and there is this trader named Eng Boon. Some people said the lake's name "Merimbun" is taken from the trader's name Eng Boon, it sounds pretty close
